Frame 1: On a small wooden ferry in the middle of a wide, foggy river, Ildico clutches her infant son Ernak, her gaze fixed suspiciously on the grizzled Ferryman who is poling the boat. The Ferryman glances toward the opposite bank and discreetly raises a hand.
Frame 2: A group of armed Hunnic warriors, bows drawn with arrows nocked, materialize from the dense, misty reeds on the riverbank.
Frame 3: The Ferryman turns back to Ildico, a cruel, greedy sneer spreading across his face as he speaks his betrayal aloud.
Frame 4: Ildico's shock instantly hardens into cold, deadly resolve, her gray eyes narrowing as she glares at the Ferryman.
Frame 5: With a fierce cry, Ildico explodes into motion, lunging from her seated position to ram her shoulder hard into the Ferryman, shoving him toward the side of the unstable boat.
Frame 6: The small ferry tips violently, its gunwale dipping beneath the surface as water floods over the side. The Ferryman topples backward into the river, and Ildico's precious bag of supplies slides off into the churning water.

Mid-river, the ferryman signals the opposite bank, and a Hunnic war party emerges from the reeds. The betrayal is confirmed as the ferryman gloats about the bounty. Reacting with fierce instinct, Ildico attacks him, deliberately capsizing the small ferry. She plunges into the freezing water with Ernak, losing her precious bag of supplies and silver in the chaos as arrows from the Huns begin to rain down around them.
