Ildico
A noblewoman from a Germanic tribe captured by the Romans. She was trained as a spy and assassin, then sent as a concubine to murder Attila in exchange for her people's freedom. Instead, she fell in love with his strength and surprising gentleness. After his sudden death, she is branded a traitor by all sides and must flee to protect their infant son.
Attila the Hun
The legendary 'Scourge of God' and leader of the Hunnic Empire. He was intrigued by Ildico's defiance and spirit, seeing her as an equal rather than a prize. He forgave her assassination attempt, won her heart, and loved her fiercely. His sudden death on their wedding night threw the continent into chaos and left his new family vulnerable.
Ernak (placeholder name)
The son of Attila and Ildico, born shortly before his father's death. As the last direct heir of the great conqueror, his existence is a threat to the rival chieftains and Roman generals scrambling for power. He is the symbol of a lost future and Ildico's reason for survival.
