Thanos was born on Saturn's moon, Titan, a member of the race of superhumans known as the Eternals. He was ostracized for his appearance, a result of the Deviant Syndrome. After witnessing his own planet's demise due to resource depletion, he became convinced that overpopulation was the greatest threat to all existence. This belief set him on a galactic crusade to achieve 'balance' by any means necessary, most notably through the acquisition of the all-powerful Infinity Stones.
